Looking Ahead to 2019: Home Trends To Consider

custom cabinetsAs we approach the final months of the year, it’s usually around this time where we are able to look back at what we accomplished and what we will set out to accomplish in the upcoming year. There’s nothing like the feeling of optimism — hopeful that the next year will bring us wealth, happiness, and an inch closer to our goals. For many, resolutions will include to lose weight, land a higher paying job, be on time, avoid eating out, or finally remodel the home! If you’re aiming for the latter, then you’ve landed in the right place.

At Eleganzza Granite, we’re always looking for the latest trends in design when it comes to your home’s countertops, cabinets, and shutters. There’s no doubt that homes today are moving in the direction of bold patterns, warmer colors, and a mix of classic and contemporary designs. In 2019, you can expect to see a shift in design, moving toward a more practical, maximal, and fun set of standards that perhaps 2018 wasn’t ready for.

Here are some examples of those trends that will emerge in the new year:

1. Darker Countertops

In the past couple of years, the choice for countertop material has been lighter shades of grey, brown, and even blues and reds. Next year, you can expect to see a shift in countertop colors, heading in the direction of warmer and darker shades. There is even talk of a trend known as “dark bathrooms” where the entire bathroom is made-up of entirely dark-colored features. From a deep blue painted wall to black countertops and black cabinets. It’s certainly an interesting concept and one that is ideal for those who like lightly or minimally dimmed rooms.

2. Mix and Match Cabinet Space

Cabinet space is typically very uninformed but it doesn’t have to be! A new trend in mixing and matching is popping up in interior design across the U.S. If you’re someone who shies away from traditional design and enjoys unconventional design then this is a style you should try! Examples include having your top cabinets be one material or color such as alder and your bottom cabinets be dark pecan.

3. Open Storage in the Kitchen

The current trend has been “hide everything!” and “less is more.” While this trend may not be for everyone, it can allow those who don’t like empty space to take advantage of placing everything from kitchenware to cooking sprays and oils, plants, cereal boxes, and just about everything you would hide behind cabinets. The concept is to save cabinet space for things you don’t use often and have those you do use on a daily basis within reach.
